📌Subchondral Insufficiency Fracture: A Case Study and Prognosis

MRI Findings

  • Hypointense fracture line
  • Low signal intensity beneath subchondral bone plate
  • Minimal articular surface flattening
  • Thickened appearance of subchondral bone plate

Key Diagnostic Points

  • Low signal area beneath subchondral bone plate: critical for early diagnosis
  • Subchondral bone plate deformity: subtle flattening or focal depression

✅ Prognosis Factors (Sayyid et al.) High-grade SIF

  • Medial meniscus posterior root tears with associated moderate to severe extrusion.
  • High-grade chondrosis.
  • Larger lesion sizes (anteroposterior/transverse).
  • Articular surface collapse.
