Knee MRI/Meniscus

[Anatomy_11] Lateral Meniscus Anterior Root

MSK MRI 2021. 9. 24. 13:16

Proximity and contiguous fibers between the anterior root ligament of the lateral meniscus (LM) and the anterior cruciate ligament

The anterior root of the lateral meniscus attaches anteriorly, along the lateral tibial tubercle, posterolateral to the medial

meniscus anterior root.

The tibial insertion of the anterior cruciate ligament is found medial to the anterior root

Anterior horn transitions to the root, it comes in direct contact with the posterolateral bundle of the anterior cruciate ligament, which is partially blended.

At MR imaging, this often has the appearance of a striated or comblike confluence of inseparable fibers

The anterior root lateral meniscus is made up of multiple fibre bundles (≥ 3), is fan-shaped and can exhibit mixed stripe-like signal intensity.

Although not as apparent on MR imaging, a similar connection may exist between the ACL and the anterior horn of the medial meniscus.

It's not a real patient's MRI, but they are virtual images very similar to the images in the journals. The images will be created for educational purposes.
