📌 Management of Infected Arthroplasty

✅ Two-Stage Revision

• Standard approach for infected arthroplasty
• Contrasts with single-stage revision used for other complications

 

1️⃣ Step 1: Removal

• Remove implant and cement

 

2️⃣ Step 2: Spacer Insertion

• Insert articulating cement antibiotic spacer
• antibiotic-loaded cement computer-aided design-articulating spacer for the treatment of periprosthetic knee infection

 

3️⃣ Step 3: Antibiotic Treatment

• Administer 6 weeks of IV antibiotics

 

4️⃣ Step 4: Reimplantation

• Perform delayed reimplantation
