Entrapment of medial plantar nerve beneath the talus and navicular bones in the region of the master knot of Henry
Abnormal T2 signal of the MPN is a key feature seen in positive jogger’s foot cases.
High signal intensity on T2-weighted images or fatty atrophy involving the abductor hallucis and flexor digitorum brevis muscles is indicative of medial plantar nerve entrapment at the ankle.
Conversely, denervation of the first lumbrical and flexor hallucis brevis muscles is compatible with nerve entrapment more distally at the foot.
