📌Intraosseous Lipoma

✅Overview

  • Rare benign bone lesions (0.1-2.5% of bone tumors)
  • Most common lipogenic tumors in bone

✅ Stages

  1. Stage 1: Well-defined, homogeneous fat content
  2. Stage 2: Fatty lesions with central necrosis, calcifications or ossifications
  3. Stage 3: Heterogeneous lesions with necrosis, cystic changes, wall sclerosis

✅ Radiograph

  • Osteolytic bone lesions with well-defined margins
  • Central calcification (cockade sign)

✅ CT/MRI

  • Stage 1: Homogeneous fat signal, absent trabecular bone pattern
  • Stage 2: Hypointense on T1, hyperintense on T2 (granulation tissue/necrosis)
  • Stage 3: Fluid cavities, sclerotic bone rim, central necrosis surrounded by viable fat
