✅Overview
- Rare benign bone lesions (0.1-2.5% of bone tumors)
- Most common lipogenic tumors in bone
✅ Stages
- Stage 1: Well-defined, homogeneous fat content
- Stage 2: Fatty lesions with central necrosis, calcifications or ossifications
- Stage 3: Heterogeneous lesions with necrosis, cystic changes, wall sclerosis
✅ Radiograph
- Osteolytic bone lesions with well-defined margins
- Central calcification (cockade sign)
✅ CT/MRI
- Stage 1: Homogeneous fat signal, absent trabecular bone pattern
- Stage 2: Hypointense on T1, hyperintense on T2 (granulation tissue/necrosis)
- Stage 3: Fluid cavities, sclerotic bone rim, central necrosis surrounded by viable fat
