Radial tears can occur in various parts of the meniscus, including the anterior/posterior horns or the body. The manifestation of these tears on MRI varies based on the tear's thickness and location.

  • Full Thickness Radial Tear - The Ghost Meniscus Sign:
  • Partial Thickness Radial Tear - The Truncated Triangle Sign:
  • The Cleft Sign in Radial Tears:
  • Diagnostic Challenge at the Junction of Body and Horn:
  • 🔍📸The Marching Cleft Sign:
    • Sequential MRI images of a radial tear often reveal a 'marching cleft sign.' This finding is characterized by the cleft not maintaining a consistent distance from the meniscus’s periphery. Instead, it appears to gradually shift towards or away from the free edge, providing a dynamic perspective on the tear's orientation and extent.
    • Note: "Longitudinal tears run perpendicular to the tibial plateau and parallel to the long axis of the meniscus. They follow the contour of the meniscus, maintaining a consistent distance from the periphery
