Parameniscal Cyst:
- Parameniscal cysts are commonly used and well-established secondary or indirect signs of a meniscal tear.
- They, along with meniscal extrusion and subchondral marrow edema, play a crucial role in increasing the diagnostic confidence of radiologists, particularly in cases with technical limitations or equivocal findings.
Deep Lateral Femoral Notch Sign:
- In cases of lateral meniscus (LM) posterior root injuries, the primary secondary MRI finding of significance is the "deep lateral femoral notch sign."
- This sign is characterized by an impaction fracture of subchondral bone measuring greater than or equal to 2 mm in depth.
- Notably, LM posterior root tears are associated with almost 40% of ACL injuries, resulting in this impaction injury. This occurrence is over five times more likely in patients with these root tears compared to those without them.
