📌 Sub-Popliteus (Subpopliteal) Recess (or Popliteus Bursa)
Anatomy and Location
- The sub-popliteus recess is located between the popliteus tendon and the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus.
- It is a synovial-lined knee expansion in the posterolateral corner of the knee.
- A normal fluid-filled, synovial-lined structure along the extra-articular tendon and musculotendinous junction.
- Can occasionally contain pathology and should not be mistaken for a musculotendinous injury.
