[Anatomy_20] Posterosuperior popliteomeniscal fascicle

by MSK MRI 2021. 9. 25.

The popliteomeniscal fascicles arise from the periphery of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus and form a posterolateral meniscocapsular extension, which creates the popliteus hiatus.

The popliteal hiatus shows relatively symmetric posterosuperior and anteroinferior fascicles.

More medial section of the hiatus shows the normal deficiency of the anteroinferior popliteomeniscal fascicle.

let’s look at the posterolateral oblique drawing, this is medial/lateral

lateral aspect of the posterolateral corner shows only AI fasicle

and on more medial image, there are both posterosuperior and anteroinferior popliteomeniscal fascicles

More medial sagittal image demonstrates PS fascicle only, we can no longer see an anteroinferior fascicle.

It's not a real patient's MRI, but they are virtual images very similar to the images in the journals. The images will be created for educational purposes.
