✅Secondary signs of ACL injury

  • Buckling of the Patellar Tendon
  • Buckling of the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)
  • A Posterior PCL Line
  • Uncovered Posterior Horn of the Lateral Meniscus
  • Visibility of the Entire Posterior Cruciate Ligament or Lateral Collateral Ligament in One Coronal Image: Normally, these ligaments are not entirely visible in a single coronal image; their full visibility can indicate an abnormal knee condition, often related to an ACL tear.

  • Positive PCL Angle:
This sign is identified when there's a decrease in the normal obtuse angle formed by lines through the proximal and distal portions of the PCL. It suggests anterior tibial translation, a common consequence of ACL tears.
  • Positive PCL Sign:
This sign occurs when a line drawn along the posterior PCL on sagittal images fails to intersect the medullary cavity within 5cm of the distal femur, further indicating the anterior displacement of the tibia relative to the femur.
