✅ Chronic Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) Injuries
➡️ Chronic MCL Imaging Findings
- Thickening of ligament
- Waviness of fibers
- Discontinuity
- increased signal
- Absence of subcutaneous edema/soft tissue swelling seen in acute injuries
➡️ Importance of Recognizing Chronic Injuries
- Can lead to progressive degenerative changes and loss of function
- May require surgical treatment for symptomatic lesions
➡️ Acute Complete MCL Tears
- Can propagate anteriorly or posteriorly to involve medial patellofemoral and posterior oblique ligaments
- May show concomitant tears of meniscofemoral ligament (deep MCL)
