📌 Posteromedial Corner (PMC) Injuries and Instability

Posteromedial corner injuries are associated with knee instability, which includes anteromedial rotatory instability and genu recurvatum instability.

✅ Role of the PMC

The PMC serves as a primary stabilizer against valgus laxity and a secondary stabilizer for anterior tibial translation and external rotation. AMRI is a key indicator of PMC injuries.

✅ Components of the PMC

The PMC consists of five major elements:

  1. Semimembranosus Tendon and Its Expansions
  2. Oblique Popliteal Ligament (OPL)
  3. Posterior Oblique Ligament (POL)
  4. Posteromedial Joint Capsule (or simply the Posteromedial Capsule)
  5. Posterior Horn of the Medial Meniscus
