📌 Posteromedial Corner (PMC) Injuries and Instability
Posteromedial corner injuries are associated with knee instability, which includes anteromedial rotatory instability and genu recurvatum instability.
✅ Role of the PMC
The PMC serves as a primary stabilizer against valgus laxity and a secondary stabilizer for anterior tibial translation and external rotation. AMRI is a key indicator of PMC injuries.
✅ Components of the PMC
The PMC consists of five major elements:
- Semimembranosus Tendon and Its Expansions
- Oblique Popliteal Ligament (OPL)
- Posterior Oblique Ligament (POL)
- Posteromedial Joint Capsule (or simply the Posteromedial Capsule)
- Posterior Horn of the Medial Meniscus
