📌 Overview of Posterolateral Knee Structures
✅ Fibular Head Attachments
- Important anchor for posterolateral corner structures
- Attachment for lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and biceps femoris tendon anteriorly and posteriorly
✅ Biceps Femoris
- Long head tendon merges with LCL 1cm above fibular head
- Inserts as conjoined tendon on lateral fibular head
✅ Lateral Collateral Ligament
- Inserts anteriorly on fibular head
- Overlies popliteus tendon at popliteus sulcus
- Insertion anterior and lateral to fabellofibular and arcuate ligaments
✅ Popliteus Complex
- Consists of popliteus tendon, muscle, and patellofemoral ligament
- Tendon attaches to lateral femoral condyle fossa
✅ Popliteofibular Ligament
- Extends from popliteus tendon to posteromedial fibular styloid
✅ Arcuate Ligament
- Reinforces posterolateral capsule
- Y-shaped, running to fibular styloid apex
- Lateral limb attaches to lateral femoral condyle
- Medial limb attaches to posterior capsule
✅ Fabellofibular Ligament
- Descends from fabella parallel to LCL
- Attaches to posterior/medial aspect of fibular styloid
✅ Iliotibial Band
- Superficial layer inserts on Gerdy's tubercle of tibia
- Deep layer attaches superficial part to lateral femur
