The Type III Wrisberg-type discoid lateral meniscus is characterized by:

- Lack of popliteomeniscal fascicles and meniscotibial coronary ligament attachments.

- Sole stabilization by the Wrisberg meniscofemoral ligament for the posterior horn.

- Arthroscopically proven prevalence of less than 0.2%.

- Generally normal or slightly thickened posterior horn morphology.

- Increased likelihood of meniscal instability symptoms, such as snapping or locking, due to hypermobility and instability.

- The condition often presents with a snapping knee during extension, with potential subluxation of the discoid lateral meniscus posterior horn into the joint.
