★ Mucinous or Mucoid Degeneration of the ACL

1️⃣ Characteristics:

The ACL exhibits a diffuse increase in signal and thickness, with normally oriented intact fibers displaying regular striations.

2️⃣ Appearance:

Noted for its “Celery stalk" appearance, characterized by mucoid degeneration and fusiform enlargement.

3️⃣ Coexistence:

Mucinous or mucoid degeneration and ACL cysts often coexist, indicating a spectrum of ACL responses to degeneration and/or chronic trauma.

4️⃣ Symptoms:

Although not associated with instability, these conditions may cause mechanical symptoms such as loss of full extension and occasionally necessitate intervention.

5️⃣ Treatment:

Successfully addressed through arthroscopic debridement.
