  • However, contrasting findings exist, with some research suggesting that notch width does not significantly impact ACL injury risk.
  • The Notch Width Index (NWI) serves as a critical measure in this context, representing the ratio of the femoral intercondylar width to the combined width of the internal and external condyles at the plane of the popliteal tendon.
  • It has been proposed that NWI values below 0.20 for males and below 0.18 for females should be considered indicative of a heightened risk for ACL injuries.
