📌  Dejour et al. Classification of Trochlear Dysplasia Type D Findings

✅  In Type D, three main findings

1️⃣ The Crossing Sign

  • The crossing sign indicates the presence of trochlear dysplasia when the sulcus line crosses or lies anterior to the femoral condyle lines.

2️⃣ The Double Contour Sign

  • The double contour sign results from asymmetric trochlear facets, with a high lateral facet and hypoplastic medial facet, forming an obliquely oriented articular surface with the patella.

3️⃣ The Supratrochlear Spur

  •  The supratrochlear spur is found in the superolateral aspect of the trochlea and represents the global prominence of the trochlea, giving a "cliff-like" appearance.

✅ Patellar Comparison

  •  In a normal knee, note that the lateral facet of the patella projects anterior to the median ridge, representing the normal relationship.
  • However, in the case of lateral patellar dislocation, the lateral facet of the patella is seen in a more posterior aspect relative to the median ridge.
