📌 Deep Infrapatellar Bursitis
✅ Overview
- Deep infrapatellar bursitis is an inflammation of the deep infrapatellar bursa, a wedge-shaped, synovium-lined structure located in the anteroinferior knee.
- This bursa does not communicate with the knee joint cavity.
- The condition is commonly seen in individuals engaged in overuse sports activities, particularly runners and jumpers.
✅ Various causes of Deep Infrapatellar Bursitis
- Overuse sports injuries (commonly seen in runners and jumpers)
- Active Osgood-Schlatter disease
- Gout
- Sepsis
- Hemorrhage
- Fat pad contracture
✅ Clinical Presentation
- Patients with deep infrapatellar bursitis typically present with pain and tenderness at the tibial tuberosity.
- The condition is often characterized by localized swelling and discomfort, especially during physical activity.
