๐Ÿ“Œ Patellar Fracture

  • Patellar fractures complicating Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) are uncommon, occurring in approximately 1% of cases. However, they represent one of the most frequent types of periprosthetic fractures.
  • Patellar fractures can be classified as either transverse or vertical. Most patellar fractures are vertical and laterally based, typically without disruption of the extensor mechanism.
  • Fractures that do not involve disruption of the extensor mechanism or loosening of the patellar implant can often be treated nonoperatively, yielding good results.
