👉Anteroinferior Popliteomeniscal Fascicle: This fascicle forms the lateral floor of the popliteal hiatus, varying in thickness. It connects the lateral meniscus’s body, extends to the popliteus muscle’s musculotendinous unit, and blends with the popliteofibular ligament, inserting at the fibular head’s styloid process.
👉 Posterosuperior Popliteomeniscal Fascicle: Linking the upper margin of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus to the popliteus tendon and the posterior joint capsule, it forms the roof of the popliteal hiatus.
💡 Interesting Fact: For the popliteus tendon to move from inside the joint to outside, specifically from the lateral to the medial side of the hiatus, there are normally two deficiencies in the Popliteomeniscal Fascicle (PMF), both above and below.
