📌Common Associated Injuries with Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Injury
1️⃣ Posterolateral Corner Injuries:
Up to 73% of PCL injuries involve damage to the posterolateral corner structures, such as the lateral collateral ligament, popliteus muscle, popliteofibular ligament, biceps femoris muscle, arcuate ligament, and fabellofibular ligament.
2️⃣ Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Tears:
Approximately 61% of PCL injuries are accompanied by a tear of the ACL, resulting in a combined PCL-ACL injury.
3️⃣ Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) and Meniscal Tears:
Around half of PCL tears also involve damage to the MCL and meniscal tears, particularly in the medial meniscus.
4️⃣ Cartilage Lesions:
Up to 23% of patients with isolated acute PCL injuries may have focal cartilage lesions, which commonly affect the central third of the medial femoral condyle and medial trochlea.
