✅ ACL Repair

  • The ACL often requires reconstruction due to its poor healing capacity after complete tears. However, when the ACL is intact with an associated tibial eminence avulsion fracture, primary repair by reattaching the bone fragment is possible and usually successful.
  • This method applies to avulsion fractures at both the femoral and tibial attachments of the ACL.

✅ PCL Repair

  • PCL injuries, though less common, have a better prognosis for healing. Injury patterns vary and include midsubstance tears, and bony avulsions at tibial or femoral sites.
  • Notably, femoral "peel-off" injuries, where the ligament detaches from the femur without involving bone, can also occur.
  • Such injuries can be effectively treated using arthroscopic repairs with transosseous suture tunnels in the femur, specifically for femoral avulsion and peel-off injuries.
