📌 Case study: O'Donoghue's Triad
- The O'Donoghue unhappy triad refers to the combined injury of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and meniscus
- Originally described with medial meniscal injury, but lateral meniscal tears more common when ACL and MCL injuries coexist
- Occurs from contact or non-contact injuries
✅ MCL Injury Findings
- Thickening of MCL
- Increased internal signal intensity
- Surrounding soft tissue edema
- Case shown is Grade 2 MCL injury
✅ Meniscal Tear Findings
- Linear high T2 signal through meniscus from superior to inferior articular surface
- Represents complete longitudinal vertical tear in red-red zone
- Classified as ramp lesion subtype 4A
✅ ACL Injury Findings
- Irregular, cloud-like area of high signal in ACL substance
- Loss of normal striated fiber appearance
- Indicates complete tear
