📌Prepatellar Bursitis

  • Fluid accumulation, synovitis, and bursal wall thickening in superficial bursae
  • Causes anterior knee pain and swelling

✅  Etiology:

  • Repetitive microtrauma (e.g., kneeling)
  • Infection
  • Gout
  • Sarcoid
  • CREST syndrome
  • Immunocompromise

✅ MRI Findings:

  • Well-defined, crescentic fluid collection in prepatellar soft tissues
  • May show heterogeneous signal (hemorrhage or infection)
  • Visible septa representing fibrous layers within bursae

✅ Superficial Bursitis:

  • Better-defined, focal fluid accumulation
  • Presents as an arc over patella, patellar tendon, or tibial tubercle
  • May appear unilocular, bilaminar, or trilaminar due to communicating bursae
