📌 Normal Quadriceps Tendon Appearance
- Distinctive laminated or trilaminar appearance on sagittal MR images
- Layered configuration with low-signal intensity tendinous bands separated by linear interdigitating fat
- Normal trilaminar appearance should not be mistaken for tendinosis
📌 Quadriceps Tendinosis Findings
- Tendon thickening and linear hyperintensity
- Edema within the fat between the layers of the quadriceps tendon
- Edema of the quadriceps fat pad associated with distal quadriceps tendinosis
✅Epidemiology and Associated Factors
- Less common than patellar tendinosis
- Associated with chronic underlying systemic diseases and/or drug use
- Repetitive microtrauma, such as in jumping sports
- Calcific tendinosis of the quadriceps tendon (less common)
